Absences and Late Work

*Heads Up! You are only allowed two absences during the block, so hang with me! We still have a lot of work to get through. We will try to to keep a steady pace and get done.

*LATE ASSIGNMENTS: I will only accept late assignments ONE class period late for half credit. You can email the assignments to me the day they are due for full points.
*LATE ESSAYS: I will accept essays late, but you will lose 5 points (1/2 grade) for each class day late.

Have a good weekend, and I'll see you all Monday!

For Monday, May 23rd

1. I have changed the due date for your pre-assessment revisions. They will be due on Wednesday, May 25th. We need to have a grammar review session before you turn those in which we will do on Monday, May 23rd.
2. Also, you need to start thinking of a significant moment you want to write about for your Autobiographical Narrative paper. We will share a few more examples in class on Monday, but the final draft of this paper is due next Friday, May 27th!

Autobiographical Narrative Assignment

As discussed in class today (Friday, May 20th), you have the choice of writing one of the following two narratives:
1. Autobiographical Narrative
2. Turning Point Autobiographical Narrative
You will find both of these assignments posted in the "Class Documents" file.
The rough draft for this assignment will be due on Wednesday, May 25th, so start thinking about what you want to write about! Also in the "Class Documents" file, you will find various autobiographical narratives that we shared in class today.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

For Friday, May 20th

Due Friday, May 20th:
1.Response to "Let's REPPEL" by Lorraine Wallace (6 bullet points--one for each letter in the mnemonic RAPPEL+ 6 short paragraphs--a short response explaining the importance of each letter)
*Also include at the end of your response, the REPPEL for your pre-assessment essay. In other words, apply REPPEL as shown at the bottom of page 5 of the article to your pre-assessment essay.
2. Your revisions for your pre-assessment essay will not be due until Monday. We will spend time in class on Friday reviewing punctuation rules. (I have prepared a grammar packet that will help all of you throughout the class.) *Remember if you are fixing a comma splice, you can't just pull the comma out. You have to put a period and capitalize the beginning of the following sentence. Class discussion on Friday will be helpful to all of you regardless of your grammar skill level. Also, don't start re-writing your entire essays! At this point, you are correcting errors.
*Most importantly, PLEASE remember that content is separate from punctuation! I enjoyed your stories! We just have some clean-up work to do!
